Sprinkler Systems
Sprinkler Systems, aka Irrigation Systems vary in type and design as well as component manufacturer. A sprinklers system or sprinklers systems or automatic sprinkler systems (however you want to say it) is made up of many components including; various styles and types of sprinkler heads, sprinkler piping, automatic controller or sprinkler timer, sprinkler system valves, various sensors and other miscellaneous components.
Many states, cities and municipalities have detailed regulations and rules regarding sprinkler systems design that must be strictly adhered to so that the owner may avoid their system being condemned due to non-conformance with regulations. Most regulations are with respect to sprinkler rates and coverage (pattern and layout) rather than the actual sprinkler heads type; sprinkler piping type, sprinkler timer capabilities or sprinkler system valves. The regulations also focus on Water Conservation through Sprinkler Systems design. Sprinkler Systems must be designed to conserve water. Fresh water is rapidly becoming a precious commodity around the world. State, City and Municipal regulations regarding water use are becoming more and more stringent as time goes on. Sprinkler Systems designed today must be focused on ‘water efficiency’. Getting the most water into or onto the right places… the roots of the vegetation is the object of the game.
Proper sprinkler adjustment is a key to every sprinkler systems efficiency and is equally as important as selecting the proper sprinkler head type or model. The water source has to be able to supply each sprinkler with enough pressure to make it operate correctly. If there is not enough pressure, a booster pump or (sprinkler pump or lawn sprinkler pump) can be integrated into the system to help provide enough pressure for the sprinkler heads. Obviously, if a sprinkler system gets this complex, a do it yourself sprinkler system project may be out of the question.
If you want to find out how to install a sprinkler system, there are sites all over the Internet that give you what appears to be details but, they often lack the true little details that make a big difference in the final product and the ultimate performance of the Sprinkler Systems. Installing a sprinkler system is hard work and is not quite rocket science but, careful attention must be paid to the regulations (which are changing almost daily due to water shortages around the world) to avoid problems both in system operation and with the governing authorities. It might be best to have your irrigation / sprinkler system designed and installed by a professional.
